Once arranged, the pieces are fired in a kiln at over 1,400°F, fusing into a single, smooth, and luminous work of art.

Designing & Cutting the Glass
It all begins with the careful selection of high-quality, colored glass sheets. Artists cut and shape these pieces to match their envisioned design, layering them to create visual depth and dynamic patterns
Layering & Patterning
Glass pieces are thoughtfully layered to achieve texture, color contrast, and complexity. This stage is where creativity thrives, as artists experiment with bold color combinations and intricate arrangements.
First Kiln Firing – Full Fuse
The arranged glass is fired in a kiln at temperatures between 1,400°F and 1,500°F (760°C – 815°C). During this process, the individual layers melt and fuse into one unified piece, gaining smooth edges and a rich, glossy surface.
Shaping – Slumping
For functional or sculptural pieces, a second firing called "slumping" is used. The glass is gently heated over a mold, allowing it to take on a desired shape, such as a bowl, plate, or a freeform structure.
Refining & Finishing Touches
Once cooled, the glass is refined to perfection. Artists may polish, sand, or etch the surface to enhance its detail and achieve a professional, gallery-quality finish.
2010
Artisans of New York opened its first shop at Bryant Park, New York City — showcasing its handcrafted glass art collections at one of the city’s most cherished destinations.
2015
Building on the legacy of Artisans of New York, we unveiled Alchemist, our second shop at Bryant Park.
Dedicated to larger, sculptural glass creations, Alchemist embodies a space where bold forms meet refined craftsmanship, inviting visitors to experience the transformative beauty of glass art in its most expressive form.
2021
Following Artisans of New York and Alchemist, we opened Blown Away, our third shop at Bryant Park.
Dedicated to smaller blown glass creations — including whimsical animal figures and delicate ornaments — Blown Away celebrates the playful and poetic side of glass art, capturing the charm of craftsmanship in miniature form.
2025
We opened our permanent shop at Industry City, Brooklyn, marking a new chapter in our journey.
