The Art of Arrangement
Step-by-Step Ikebana Guide
Select and Prepare Your Bowl
Choose one of our handcrafted glass or porcelain Ikebana bowls.
Add Water
Fill the bowl with clean water to help support the stems and keep your flowers fresh for longer.
Choose Your Floral Materials
Select three main elements of varying lengths:
- Tall stem (Shin): Represents the sky or heaven.
- Medium stem (Soe): Symbolizes humanity.
- Short element (Hikae): Represents earth.
Begin Arranging
Start by anchoring the tallest stem (Shin) into the pin frog. Follow with the medium and shorter elements, arranging them in a balanced, triangular composition—one of the foundations of traditional Ikebana.
Leave Space and Focus on Simplicity
Negative space is just as important as the materials. Aim for an elegant and minimalist arrangement that feels organic and balanced.
Refine and Adjust
View your composition from different angles. Ensure the lines are harmonious and that each element contributes to a natural sense of movement and flow.
